My name is Shelly Walker and I am interested in genealogy and ran across your posting on 12 Nov 2001, about Bartholomew Riehle. I noticed you were looking for Anselm Riehle. I had ran across an Anzel Riley age 27 wife Eliza A. age 22 (no children yet) in the 1850 census which would have made is birth year about 1823. He was living next door to a Alexander and Ellen (Riehle) Cherry who are my GrGrGr Grandparents. I thought when I saw this he was a possible brother to Ellen Riehle. I am interested in linking the information you have on Bartholomew Riehle with Ellen. I noticed from the posting that Bart… had a daughter by the name of Ellen. My grandmother Ellen was born 31 Mar 1822 in Germany. She married Alexander Cherry in Ohio and they had 12 children as follows:
Abigale Jane Cherry b.1842
George Dallas Cherry b.1845
Mary Ann Cherry b. 1847 * my line
Effie Cherry b. 1850
John Newton Cherry b.1852
Anselmn Cherry b. 1854
Lewis Cherry b. 1857
Peter b. 1860
Ferdinand b. 1865
Elizabeth b. 1868
William H. b. 1870 lived with his brother Peter he was almost blind.
I also have a story about Ferdinand he was murdered by some kids on his way home from church when he was in his teens.
My main concern is that in the 1900 census Ellen (Riehle) Cherry said she immigrated to the US in 1826 and Bart… came over in 1838. Thru my experience with census takers and givers there are some inaccuracies but, this seems like a big one. If you have any information on Ellen Riehle that could prove one way or the other I would be interested. My e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org
. I hope the information I have here will help you in you quest for Anselm Riehle.
