Sanne, Ralph and daughter Sanne, Marion Louise

Surnames: Sanne
Searching for any information regarding Ralph Sanne (1902 1973) and his sisters (Ebba Remmen, Borghil Nelson, Rebekka, Olga). They are from Notteroy, Norway. Ralph was married to Sigrid Eriksen and they had a child in 1931 (my mother) Marion Louise Sanne.

Sigrid and Ralph divorced and Sigrid sent Marion in 1937 to live with her maternal grandmother, Milda Eriksen of Porsgrunn, Norway. Marion was stuck in Norway during WWII and could not get back to the United States until 1946.

Sigrid would never share any information with Marion regarding her father Ralph. She even changed Marion's name (not legally) to Marion Louise Randall when she brought her back to the U.S.

Any information regarding Ralph Sanne or any of the sisters is greatly appreciated.

Rolf Sanne, his parents and siblings born before 1910 appear in the census in Nøtterøy, Vestfold, Norway.

You can use the parish records of Nøtterøy to verify info and gather copies of original documents of birth/baptism/confirmation/marriage/death.

Asking for "any information" is too broad a request. Exactly what are you really hoping to find?

I was hoping to find children of my grand aunts so that my mother can connect with them if possible. She was an only child and was separated from her father for many years. We never knew he lived in Florida until recently, but he died in 1973. She always wondered what happened to him, and my grandmother would never tell her anything about him.

I did find the family information in the 1910 census, that's how I found Ralph's siblings.

Thank you, I did find a lot of information on the 1910 census. What I was hoping to find was children of Ralph's sisters and to find out more about what happened to him after my mother was sent to Norway.

The most recent Norwegian census which has been released is the 1910 -- they have a 100 year ban on publication of those for privacy protection of the living.

Some church parish records as recent as the 1920s or 1930s for some areas are available online at the Digitalarkivet website as digitized images of the original pages. Those records are open and free for anyone with Internet access to browse.

If someone also of that family searches these Ancestry/RootsWeb message boards you have a chance they will notice your posting. That's a pretty big IF. There might not be anyone in such family who has enough interest in family history to be doing such a search. It might also be useful that both Brian and I have given the Norwegian name for the man you call Ralph -- Rolf.

I do wish you good luck.

It Looks like most of Ralphs sisters ended up in America and married there. Have you already looked for their children in the US?

Borghild and Rebekka left Kristiania (Oslo) for America (New York) on 6 May 1914. Both were unmarried at the time.
