Marie Marguerite Lampron dit Lacharite is my paternal great great grandmother. I know that she was born to a native mother near Rocky Mountain Post, which we are still looking for a name; raised and travelled east with her father Francois; then her grandfather Francois raised her until she married Joseph Provost (Prevost). She has always listed herself as native or sauvage in the censuses. Other possibility we are trying to track is Joseph Provost may have met Francois and Marie around the Red River area, as the men were known to be voyageurs; and travelled back to Quebec. Voyageur records are not easily found and not documented in pertaining information. The info is general and could be any number of potential people. Fur traders are even harder to find. Email if you wish to discuss more.

We have her birth to be 1808-1810 at Rocky Mountain Post. It is assumed that her mother died at birth. From there, we only find the record of her marriage to Joseph Provost, listing her with her grandparent. A cousin said she was Algonquin. I seen once on line that Francois Lampron dit Lacharite had signed for another three years with HBC, with his daughter in tow. When I tried to save a copy, my internet went down and have not been able to find again. The HBC archives in Winnipeg did not turn up any such contracts nor is St. Boniface Historical Society of any use. I have my genealogy for the Prevost line from ~1644 to present, but beyond her father, we have very little else to go on.
