On the 1850 Tippah County Census their is a John Riley 94 years old and the family of Andrew Riley 72, I think that I might be connected to this family and that they came from Chester County, South Carolina to Mississippi with the Tollison, Youngs, Stones, and Wright's. Any one with information on this family PLEASE contact me. Thanks

There ia a John Riley Sr. (F276) listed in the "Tippah County Heritage Volume II" published by the Tippah Co. Historical and Genealogical Society. It says he was born in 1756 in Amherst Co. VA and moved to SC about 1770. He served in the Revolutionary War and eventually moved to MS about 1840. He died in 1852 and is buried in Smith Cemetery northwest of Blue Mountain MS. In 1907 the DAR erected a monument in his memory. Andrew is his eldest son. There is more information in the article about his family and descendents.

Thank you for your reply. I am trying to tie John Riley to James Riley in Chester County, South Carolina. James was born in 1802 in North Carolina and died after 1850. James is my 3rd great-grandfather. Their is a John Riley listed in the 1790, 1800,1820, and J. Riley in 1830 Chester County Census. He is not listed in 1840. I do not know what happened in 1810.. In 1790 their is a John, James, Thomas, and 2 Williams. The last name is spelled Rainey and Railey, Reiley, Raleigh, Raley and Reighley I would love to know more about this family. How do I order the book???
