I have a death card in my grandparent's box of pictures etc. -- for Polydorus Mortagne husband of Augusta Beke B. Licthervelde December 31, 1877 and died Brugge March 13, 1921. Wondered if anyone knew of this couple? Thanks! Ginny VBasford@aol.com

My line goes from Maria Ludovica Mortaigne B. April 12, 1850 D. October 13, 1927 in Lichtervelde, Belgium. she married Henricus DeBlaere - I do not know when. Believe the children to be:
Camille, Jules, Archie, Morris, Stillfield, Emory, Minnie, Emma Marie (my grandmother), Theophil, Juliana, & Alois.
My grandmother married Remi DeNolf and they came to the U.S. - lived in Moline, Illinois a bit and then moved to Wisconsin where he had a 40 acre farm. I do not have a lot of information on Mortaigne and nothing on her parents. I appreciate your query. Working in Belgium is very hard - I do not speak Flemish or read it. I do have a cousin in Belgium - Noel Maes, who is the grandson of Camille DeBlare. Noel has visited us twice in the U.S.

I believe Polydorus to be son of Felix Mortagne/Mortaigne who is (I believe) a brother to Maria Ludovica Mortaigne who married Henricus De Blaere. I have nothing to back up that, though. Ginny VBasford@aol.com

tha could be correct. as to my info. Felix hat a son called hector and he had a brother called Paul (could be polydorus in latin). And this Hector is an uncle of my grandfather if my current info is correct. I keep u informed if i can confirm, just started my tree and still don't have all official records.

That would be wonderful - looks like we connect way on back there. I'll have to look at my box of Mortaigne stuff to see if I have anything that might be useful. People have been very kind helping me in Belgium. My Grandmother came from Lichtervelde and my grandpa from Koolscamp. When I started working...I did not have much information. I have quite a bit now and need more. In genealogy, I think we ALWAYS need more! Good luck with your searching and I hope to hear from you in the future. Ginny VBasford@aol.com

Sorry
but i think it is more likely that she is the sister of Felix Mortagne as per brithday. as Felix born in 1847 and Maria Ludovica in 1850. then she was the aunt of Hector and Paul. who are uncles to my grandfather

it is hard work, working out family history, i just have a gap between my grandfather (born in michigan) and then the rest of the family (uncles, cousins, etc) and i cant ask my grandfather any more, died 2 weeks ago. That s why i started this research.
Still waiting for documents from townhalls etc., have to ask my parents if they still have deathcards or so. I'll keep u posted.

Sorry to hear of your grandfather passing away. Once they are gone, it harder to put things together - true. I will stay in touch and will also look in my box to see what I have acquired on Mortaigne. Ginny
