Seeking information on a Julian Porteils, born January 30th 1851 in Torreilles, immigrating to Australia in 1883 - departing Havre on June 3, on the Ship Fadicites. His wife immigrated with him, but all nine children were born in Sydney Australia. Any information would be great.

I am an Australian descendant of Julian Porteils, although I did not know this till very recently. The surname left my family line when my mother was adopted (she was born Myrtle May Porteils in 1940), and i have been researching the line in Australia, but have no information on parents or ancestry back beyond Julian (although i believe his parents were Jacques and Veronica). If you wish, i can post the information I have on the Australian descendants, and perhaps you could help me with the french side.
However, i am not sure about his wife travelling with him, as there is an Australian marriage certificate for Julian Porteils and Marguerite Ryan, married 1886 in Sydney. Perhaps a second marriage out here?

Hi Wayne. I did send an email to you, but my hotmail account is mucking up. Anyway, I did find out where the connection is. My Grandmother forgets things sometimes. Your mother was adopted out from Vincents sister Veras family. Vincent is interested in getting in touch by the way. There was a little confusion, Vincents youngest sister was also named Myrtle May.

My name is Nikki Just found your request for information on Julian portiels. i am also a direct desendant of julian. I have information on Mytle May and William Xavier Porteils, of which i obtained from my grandmother recently as they were her parents. Myrtle was born Myrtle May Kenny her parents were Robert Kenny and Eva Lonsdale. Myrtle's second husband was a Mr Bains. William Xavier was the son of Julian and Margaret nee Ryan Porteils. Julian's parents according to my grandmother were James and Veronique nee Batelle porteils. I realise it was a while ago you posted your inquiry, but would realy appreciate a response. nikki.

Myrtle Kenney/Porteils/Bains grandson.. would be interested to know what info you have and what became of Myrtle after she left William Porteils..by the sounds of it you and hubby could be cousins..Which child of Myrtle and William do you come through??
