DeWitt Talmage Gaillard or Gaylard from Bleckley County

Does anyone have any information on DeWitt Gaylard? He supposedly shot Claude Slaughter in 1917 and then fled (according to newspaper). When I searched the name I came up with a "DeWitt Talmage Gaillard" of Bleckley Co. Georgia and I was wondering if it was the same person. It's interesting because "DeWitt Talmadge" is a family name on my husbands side and Claude's sister Eula was married to "DeWitt Talmadge Coley".
Any help is much appreciated!

Suggestion: look closely at the three men (the two DeWitt's and Claude), in the 1910 Georgia census, and then at them in the Georgia World War I Draft Registration. Use a Soundex search on GAYLARD. All info is readily available on Ancestry.com.

See what conclusion you reach.

Good luck!
