James,

I'm also looking for African-American Mosbys from Virginia. I don't know exactly which city or county. I just a 1920 cencus record showing George Mosby Sr. was born in Virginia. He had 3 sons: George Mosby Jr., Fred, and Benjamin. If you have any information on this family, please email me at: pmitchell9@hotmail.com. Your help will be deeply appreciated. May God bless!

I too am looking for black MOSBYs in Virginia. They are on the 1900 census: Smith Mosby born in 1845 married to Anna E. Had two daughters Sadie and Ada and a son, Noel. They are from Virginia, however, I'm not sure which county, they are on the Pennsylvania census. Could we be related? Can you help?

Fred Black and his wife was Beatrice had two children a daugther and son the sons name was Fred Lee the daugther was Lunoria. I ran upon a cousin of my father Earl Mosby her name is Ann Scott Pigg I was told that as a child she was called Minna (like the fish) she told me that Fred Black and another son his name is L.B. Black of St. Louis I found him but he did not know much about his father or his people. He did say that his half brother Willie/William Black lived in St. Louios until he died several year back. People in St. Louis called him (Willie) Jake Hall WHy I don't know he Jake moved to East St. Louis Ill. L.B., also told me that they had a cousin named Troy Scott I kind of remeber him as a child but like most of my dad relatives he deceased . Help from anywhere will be appreciated.
