My 5th ggrandfather was Jonathan Nutting, Jr., b. 1697, grandson of John Nutting of Groton, MA. He married Hannah Billings 15 June 1725. He had one daughter Elizabeth, b. 1728, who married John Hicks, Jr., April 26, 1748. Were there any other children born to Jonathan and Hannah?

My lineage also comes from John Nutting and Sara Eggleton. The little I know is that he had 8 children including John (b1651) who married Mary Parker. John had at least one son, Ebenezer (1666 who married Lydia____.
They had another John (born 1709) who married Hannah Read. They in turn had a son Thomas (born 1758) who married Sybil Prescott. Thomas served 3x in the Revolutionary War. He had a son Jonas (1783) who married Mary(Polly) Spaulding. They had 6 children including my Great, great, grandfather (maybe it is three greats!) Hiram Nutting (1812) who married Aseneth Tenney, a descendent of Thomas Tenny and Ann Mighill who settled Rowley, Mass. in 1638.

I would love any additional information or clarification you might have. I am anxious to fill in all the other branches of the family. I found quite a bit of info through www.familysearch.org. I also received much information from a cousin who researched the family while living in New Hampshire.

Gary, do you know how to obtain the book you mention?

Hope to hear from you. Linda

My Nutting line is through SAMUEL NUTTING born 1-1-1700. He was the 3rd son of Jonathan Nutting (2), grandson of founder John Nutting born 1620. SAMUEL NUTTING was sibling of: John Nutting, Jonathan Nutting and possibly others. SAMUEL NUTTING married JANE HUNNEWELL IN 1728 and had 10 children. Lived in Watertown, Mass. One of their children was JOHN NUTTING born Oct.16, 1730 in Watertown,Mass. This is my ancestor. He married SARAH LEONNARD Dec.17,1772 in Watertown. (believe he was also married to Lydia Stratton and Olivia Ames). I need more info about these generations and also DAVID NUTTING, born_____(son of John). He had siblings: Samuel, died without children, Nancy, never married, and _________, father of Samuel F. Nutting & Nancy Nutting of Richmond, Indiana, (lived there in 1860). DAVID NUTTING married JANE HANCOCK Dec.23,1812 in Greene Co.Tenn. and had a son,GEORGE WASHINGTON NUTTING, born Oct. 1813. Need place born, siblings, name of 1st wife (have been told he had 5 wives). When he came to Mo., When died. Where buried, etc. His 1st child was DAVID WASHINGTON NUTTING born Feb.22,1839 and married SARAH JANE MITCHELL. McDonald Co. Mo. They had 4 children. The 1st was WILEY JASPER NUTTING, my grandfather, born Oct.9,1873, McDonald Co. Mo. I hope someone can help fill in blanks from generations of Samuel through George Washington Nutting. Thanks - Ruby

Shelly - I hope this info will help. JONATHAN NUTTING,son of John Nutting and Sarah Eggleston, was born 1668 in Groton, Mass. died 1735 in Cambridge. Me married Elizabeth______Born___. They married 1691 in Middlesex Co. Their children: HANNAH NUTTING - married John Gross of Boston 1746; SARAH NUTTING - married John Gay and died in 1746; JOHN NUTTING - born 1695, grad. from Harvard 1712, died May 20,1790; JONATHAN NUTTING - no info; SAMUEL NUTTING - born Jan 1,1700 bapt. Aug.1,1701 married Jane Hunnewell; JAMES NUTTING - bapt. April 25,1703; EBENEZER NUTTING - bapt. March 25,1705 (probably died young); MARY NUTTING - married Paul Nowell of York. When Jonathan died in 1735, his widow and 7 children survived him. My line comes down through SAMUEL NUTTING. he married JANE HUNNEWELL (Hunewell, Honeywell). She was born 1712, 5th child of Charles Hunnewell and Elizabeth Davis. Samuel & Jane had 10 children. My line is through their 2nd child JOHN NUTTING,born Oct. 16,1730 and died 1808 in Watertown or Danvers,Mass. You asked how I get my research info. I have been haunting the Dallas Public Library, Ellis Co. Libraries, Census Records, Church Records, old family letters & info, etc since 1975 when my daughter started this search as a term project in jr.high and I got hooked. I only started internet searching 2 wks ago because I have several "dead ends" .
If you have connections I can use, please reply. Thanks, Ruby

I'm a descendant of Abigail Nutting and Joseph Whitney. They were my 7th great grandparents. Joseph was the son of Joseph Sr. & Rebecca Burge Whitney of Watertown & Chelmsford,MA. I believe that Abigail Nutting Whitney was the daughter of Ebenezer and Ruth Nutting.I have her as being born in Groton,MA on Feb 8th though I don't know what year. She and Joseph Whitney Jr. were married I believe in Groton,MA on Dec. 6th, 1737.
Any information you might have would be very very appreciated as this is all I have on my Nutting line.
Thanks!
