Since posting my first message I have found out though marriage records in Vernon Co., WI. That Eva Umbach's parents were Johann Henry & Elizabeth (Amos) Umbach.
Eva's first name was Sophia, she also used Mary Eva at times.
Thanks for the reply.

I do not see any Wolfeushausen in Germany, but there is a Wolfshausen north of Frankfort am Main, on MapQuest (online).

The census family would be the right one: FamilySearch database of the 1880 Census, Liberty, Vernon Co., WI: UMBACK, John, 53, he & parents b. Hesse; wf. Elizabeth, 51, she & parents b. Baden; ch. b. WI: John, 20; Mary, 17; Miner{v}a, 15; Philip, 9.

BOYER, Samuel, Co. F, 141, OH Inf.
Eva [UMBACH] (8 Jan. 1863 - 21 Apr. 1913) wf/o Saml. {from obit., no stone}
Lucinda C. [McKINNEY] (1854 - 20 Jan. 1895, 40 - 2- 15) wf/o Wm. B. BOYER; with Albert J. (1879 - 1959) & Ira A. (1883 - 1938).

Samuel BOYER is one tough man to identify! The tombstone apparently has no dates. He couldn't have been 42 in 1880 (b. ca. 1838) if he had a son in 1849. The William of Kickapoo couldn't have been a close relative if the birthplaces of the parents are correct.

Do you have more clues about Samuel? What was the date, and what were all of the names on the marriage license for Samuel BOYER? My ancestors J. Adam HAY & Anna Mary BOYER also passed through [W] V. They both died in Ohio by 1814, but their son Jonathan HAY and granddau. Susanna [HAY] COOK lived & died in Vernon Co., WI.
