I am looking for the parents of Mary Ritchie b/1820 m/1849 to John William Campbell b/1820. John was my GG Grandfather.
He was a native of Ayrshire. They left Scotland 1857/58 & came to settle in Proton Township, Grey County, Ont. CAN.
I am almost sure that John was from Kilmarnock, & some of my Aunt's notes refer to Campbell cousins born same place, also with reference to Sorn. Maybe a connection?

I AM RESEARCHING JAMES & MARGARET (NEE HIGHET) RITCHIE WHO WERE MARRIED IN KILMARNOCK ON THE 12 JUNE 1827. I AM LOOKING FOR THEIR FAMILY. I HAVE FOUND THAT THEY HAD A DAUGHTER CALLED JANET, WHO MARRIED ANDREW TAYLOR & LIVED AT SHAWWOOD SORN. THEY HAD A FAMILY OF EIGHT. THERE NAMES WERE MARION (MARRIED JAMES GIBSON, LIVED AT CATRINE HOLM) & MARGARET (CALDWELL),JESSIE, ELIZABETH,JAMES,ANDREW,HELEN & JOHN.

I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANY DESCENDANTS OF JAMES & MARGARET RITCHIE.

I have done a little research for a friend in the USA who is descended
from this family (I am fairly sure). I have the couple listed as John
and Margaret Highet but it is the same family as Margaret dies at
Shawwood. My friend by a coincidence is in the UK on holiday and was at
the Church in Kilmarnock where the Highet stone is situated. I have a
bit of information that I can share with you.
Do you live locally? I am in Glasgow Scotland.

I'm a complete novice at this. My grandfather was David (Allan) Highet, born 1913, in Dunedin, New Zealand, with four brothers (Bremner, Eric, Malcolm, Geoff), and sister Elsie. I think their father was David Highet, but I'm not sure. Do you have any further background on the Highets in New Zealand?

I am currently researching my family tree and an ELIZABETH SARAH HIGHET is my great great grandmother. She was born 26 Feb 1896 and married a Reginald Septimus Hardaker on 23 March 1918. I do not know at this stage who her parents were. Was wondering if you have come across this name in your NZ research, as HIGHET seems to be a fairly rare name over there.
