Merging fact/source information???

Merging fact/source information???

Good morning all,

I uploaded a GEDCOM file from a distant cousin last night. Today, looking at some of the individuals I already had in my tree (my grand aunt, his mother), I noticed that I now have duplicate entries... 2 marriages, 2 census entries, etc. This has occurred on several individuals.

My primary tree is editted locally in FTM2012, then synched to Ancestry.com. Is there an easy way to merge the duplicate fact entries and keep the source information, which is different in each fact?

Thanks,
Peter

Same situation here - I've been using the merge duplicate fact feature - right-click on a fact in the person view, choose "merge duplicate fact." You choose then what facts to merge, and what date, place and description to show. It "should" merge them into a single fact, keeping all sources that are not duplicates. Time-consuming, but it seems to work. I'm having trouble deleting extra "phantom marriages," however. Any ideas?

Do you mean when you have a spouse and an "unknown" spouse married to the same person? I think you can go to the People page (top ribbon), select person (middle ribbon), and then attach/detach person from the pull-down menu. Once detached, you should be able to delete the person. Seems like that's how I handled it.
