I tried to email this to you but it bounced back

Hi Elaine - thanks for your response - In looking through my Clay County records I see a marriage between J.H. Johnson and N.A. Dawkins 31 Dec 1885. This could be John Henry and Nancy.
Clay co was created in 1866 from Randolph and Talledega Counties - there are no records of marriages prior to 1875 due to a courthouse fire.
A copy of the original record may be obtained from the Probate Office,Clay Co Courthouse, Ashland, AL 36251 - I don't know the cost.
If you will privately send me your postal address, I will send you a copy of the newsletter.
Hope this is helpful

This may or may not be relevant. It's just that the name "Cullen Johnson" is not all that ordinary.

In Lancaster County, South Carolina:

Samuel Johnson, of Cedar Creek (southwestern part of county)

1828, April (Deed N,251): Cullen Johnson, William Johnson, Frances Johnson, Henry H. Johnson, and John B. Beckham husband of Jinsey Beckham, heirs of Samuel Johnson, sold to Caswell Mobley for $810, 270 acres on Cedar Creek, bounded by lands of John D. Andrews, Richard Beckham, and James Cauthen. All heirs signed with a mark.

Cullen Johnson
1826, Nov 15: Cullen Johnson's signature on an affidavit on behalf of Reuben Bennett who was making a Rev War pension application.

Anita, your mention of Perry Co, AL, caught my eye. I'm looking for the ancestors of my gggf Jeremiah F. Johnson and his wife Harriet Newnam, who were married in Perry Co, AL 21 April 1844. Jeremiah was born 26 Mar 1820 somewhere in TN and died 3 Jan 1899 in Trinity Co, TX. Most of the given names on my list of suspected siblings are from the Old Testament, like Isaac. The surname Phares has appeared before in my research, but don't have anything definite on that. If you have information on my Johnsons or ifyou are still publishing your newletter, I would be very grateful for your help. Thanks.
