Fredrick W. Thornton, 69, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 4 years, died on January 1, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ruth Thornton of Albuquerque; 2 daughters, Jan Slade and husband, Dan of Irving, TX and Julia Murtha and husband, Ken of Albuquerque; 2 sons, Jay Thornton and wife, Becky of Cedar Hill, MO and Jim Thornton of Flower Mound, TX; 5 grandchildren; 2 brothers and 6 sisters. Fredrick was preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister. Fredrick worked as a Systems Engineer for IBM for 29 years, retiring in 1992. He was active with Senior Net in Dallas, TX and Albuquerque. For the past several years, Fredrick was the Project Coordinator for the Rio Grande Food Project. Memorial service will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Rio Grande Presbyterian Church, 600 Coors NW.
