The Tillman family that I seek came from that time the name was spelled Tilghman. My father's name is Roy Nelson Tillman, my grandfather's name at birth was Leroy Tilghman changed it later to Roy Lee Tillman, born in 1903....where?....he had 2 brothers and 1 sister: Carl, Harve, and Jewel.....his parents(my great grandparents) died when Roy Lee was 4 or 5 (my grandfather was the youngest of the children). To our knowledge my great grandparents died en route to the OK IT we think around Ft. Towson, OK.(the spelling of the family name at that time was still Tilghman)The last name was changed when the two older brothers(Carl and Harve) had a dispute and split kept the Tilghman spelling, the other changed it to Tillman. My grandfather was a little boy when all this happened......we think around 1908 or 1909? A few years later my grandfather left his brother and started his own family in Hugo, is said that at one time he owned a large part of Hugo. My grandfather did not keep in touch with his siblings and all were scattered about in OK.......and very little is known about my great grandparents and who their parents were and where they all came from, just that they at one time came from Tennessee and before that........who knows........I've been searching and searching for links to this family with no luck outside of purchasing possible archives of news journals from Choctaw Co., OK from that time era of 1903. If anyone knows any information or history on this line of Tillman/Tilghman family please contact me via e-mail.......its like part of the family just disappeared......
