Hi Tracey- thanks very much for this. I havnt looked at this branch of the family for a couple of years I think! As far as I was able to find out, the Neuss family came from somewhere called (or like) Kumburg/Kumbarg. They were related to the Koellner family also aboard the Caesar- Dorothea Neuss was sister to George Koellner. The Koellner family appears to have come from somewhere called Baden.
Do either of these place names ring any bells with you?
Apparently, according to a newspaper article I found, the majority of the families aboard the Caesar came out under engagement to a Mr James Manning- the manager of the Twofold Bay Pastoral Company. Not sure if you might know more about that too??
Thanks for inspiring me to look at the Neuss and Koellner families again! Are you related to either of these families by any chance?
