So good to meet another Dale from Ripley County, MO!! Did Palmer ever discuss why the Dale's left Grainger County, TN and moved to Missouri??? Milton and several of his siblings came to Missouri by 1860....Man, they could not have picked a worse time then on the eve of the civil war!!!
Bronk, the only story I remember Palmer and his brother Rector ever telling me was, during the civil war, Milton left the war in order to help care and protect his wife and young son George. They stated Milton hide during the day in a root cellar so as not to be detected. Do you have any similiar stories about Milton and Mary and their children???
