The Daughtons are an interesting family. It appears that the family may have originated in France and then settled en masse in County Kerry, Ireland in the 12th century. I have corresponded with Daughtons in the little village of Kilduff in Co. Kerry, a Mary Daughton to be exact. Every Daughton I have talked with (Chris in London and several in the States) came from the same area. Somewhere in the mass of info (which I have not done too good a job of cataloging) is the home parish and the churchyard where almost all of the Ireland Daughtons are interred. We [plan to visit Kilduff the next time we get back to the auld sod to meet some of the family. As far as the Springfield Daughtons are concerned, there were certainly a batch of them. I can't find Patrick Henry Daughton, but I know that Mary's father, John Daughton, had a cousin whom he called Jimmy. I know that there was also a Jimmy Daughton involved in the electrical business in Springfield. Maybe they were the same person. Much of the info I have came from Pam Kazmaier of Mesa, AZ. Her email is
kpkazmaier@aol.com. By the way, I have a nephew in Springfield named Patrick John Daughton and he has two children. The Springfield connection lives on!
