Looking at the Edward Mervin Rich side of things (his sisters were Agnes and Myrtle). The 3 New Yor born children were children of mother Carrie who was
born in France of parents born in France. Carrie was born about 1891 and emigrated about 1895/96 (in one census, her birthyear is abt 1883). Carrie married abt 1903 in New York, Anthony Regi (?). He was born abt 1870 in
Austria of parents born in Austria, but he and his parents were of Italian descent. He says that he emigrated in 1892. This family is found in the 1910 Highlands, Orange, New York census as either REGI or REGE (and poor Mervin is listed as Merva, a girl). By the 1920 Boston, Mass census, Carrie has remarried, to Charles M. Reardon who was born in Cambridge, Mass. abt 1887. Charles was a piano-maker but had served in the US Navy, being discharged in 1909, after which he entered West Point in 1910 and left in 1913. This family is in the 1920 Boston, Mass census with step-children Mervin E., Agnes D., and Myrtle. By the 1930 Boston census, Carrie F. Reardon is a 39-yr-old widow with her 2 daughters and a lodger named Thomas K. Rock, aged 44 and born in Massachusetts with his parent both born in
Ireland.. In the same 1930 Boston census is the Nervin Rich family (as transcribed) with wife Noretta and children Jean and Loretta (spellings as found in transcription).

At least this is a start - I've found a few leads for the Tierney end - will keep you posted
