I agree with perrysj. Inasmuch as FTM and ancestry.com trees sync, hints should sync also. As for workarounds of turning off hints on the site or in the program, rubbish...they should sync - end of story. When FTM is promoted by the developer and/or the sales group at Ancestry as capable of syncing trees between the program and the web site the perspective buyer of FTM should have no reason to assume that it means that only portions of the data is synchronized.
The idea that FTM and the web site should be treated as two different programs is just preposterous.
