Hello,
I'm sorry to report that I could not find anyone with the Lannon surname in Wexford's Tikillin civil parish for the Tithe Applotment Books (1833) or the Griffith's Valuation (1853). There were a number of families with the Sinnott surname there then, as posted earlier in this thread.
It is possible that Lannons lived in this civil parish in years other than mentioned. In all, there were 134 civil parishes in Co. Wexford in the 1800s.
The database at www.ireland.com says there were eight properties occupied by Lannon families in Co. Wexford in the 1853 Griffith's Valuation. Perhaps one of these are yours. Reference:
http://scripts.ireland.com/ancestor/surname/index.cfm?fuseac....
Just type "Lannon" in the portal on the page.
Happy hunting,

Hello bgt,
I checked for coolladangan at the Ireland placename database and the list of townlands in Co. Wexford at these web addresses:
http://www.seanruad.com/
http://www.rootsweb.com/~irlwex/
Although I could not find a coolladangan (with a double "l") in counties Wexford and Wicklow, I did find a cooladangan townland (with a single "l") in Co. Wicklow.
The Cooladangan townland is 204 acres (almost a third of a square mile) in Wicklow's old Arklow civil parish, in the old Arklow barony, in the Rathdrum poor law union. To find Cooladangan's location, it might be easiest to find a civil parish map of Co. Wickow, and locate the old Arklow civil parish. I wonder if it is near the present town of Arklow, in southern Co. Wicklow.
The Google search engine provided websites that have references to Cooladangan, at this address:
http://www.google.com/search?q=cooladangan&hl=en&lr=...
Best wishes, and happy hunting.

Hi bgt,
The only place that I know of on the Internet that has free Irish 1901 census returns is the website below. Wicklow is not yet represented there, but may someday be as volunteers come forward.
http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/1901census/
The Ancestry website might have 1901 Wicklow returns, though there is a membership fee. Address:

Best wishes, and happy hunting.

Hello Mo,
I could not find a property under anyone named Shields in the Tikillin civil parish in the Tithe Applotment Books (1833) or the Griffith's Valuation (1853). There was an Edward Sheil in the town of Castlebridge (just north of Wexford town) in the 1853 Griffith's. Keep in mind that the Tikillin civil parish was just one of 134 civil parishes in Wexford then.
I'm wondering if your ancestors used a spelling variation of Shields while in Wexford, because I could not find a Shields in Wexford in 1853, per the www.ireland.com website (see website below). Just enter the name Shields in the portal and you will see what I mean--though there are a dozen spelling variants of Shields (as listed at the website). Website address:
http://scripts.ireland.com/ancestor/surname/index.cfm?fuseac....

This website below also gives some info on the Shields surname:
http://www.goireland.com/genealogy/scripts/Family.asp?Family...

Best wishes,

Am sorry, but I've only got these data for the Tikillin civil parish in Co. Wexford. There is in existence a CD-ROM that has the entire Griffith's Valuation for all Ireland, and it is available at many libraries and the Family History Centers of the Ladder Day Saints. Perhaps you can find your people on that CD-ROM. I've used that database on a computer, and it is pretty easy to work with. After identifying the family with way, it is possible to order the actual Griffith's document through the Family History Centers, and thereby get a lot more info. The Family History Centers also have all the Tithe Applotment Books on microfilm, which can be ordered. Sorry again. --John
