Hello Grant, well now we know Ephraim did marry twice and if you look up the 1870 census you should find Ephraim with his new bride and his daughter from his first marriage, her name should be Emma Jane Victoria Pratt and I bet that Mary Almira and Emma Jane are the same person, other than that Ephraim had two surviving daughters from his first marriage, something to take up with your cousin. If you live near a latter day saints church (Mormons) they have all the films for Carleton Co for the period you are researching, The films are the actual parish records and there are no mistakes except for the odd spelling error.
