Thank you for the kind offer.

If the 1861 or 1871 censuses for Croydon have been indexed, please could you look for:

John Willmott, born Chester, age 59 or 69 (depending on census)
Susan Willmott, born Lambeth, age 50 or 60
plus family

I don't have an address for these years, but they were living in Alma Place, Croydon by 1881. The name is usually spelt Willmott, but could be WILMOT. If there is no index, don't worry.

Thanks again for the offer.

Do you know if the 1871 census for surrey is name indexed.

I am looking for Edwin/Edward Littlejohns born c1830 in Plymouth Devon. I believe he was in the Surrey area in 1871.

Known Children who should be with him:
Sarah Jane Littlejohns, Charles Littlejohns and William Littlejohns

Not sure who his wife was, he remarried in 1876 when widowed.

Hello. I would be very grateful if you could help me. I am trying to trace my ancestor Paul Rider, who was a publican at the Rose and Crown Long Lane Bermondsey Surry in 1839-1841. I was hoping that the local library might hold records of licenses etc. Any piece of info about him would be gratefuly received. Regards Pam

Hello,
I’m also researching the Haywards from Croydon (George, born 1822), but so far I only have the following info (almost nothing so to speak), maybe you could help further and tell me what you know about these Haywards from Croydon.
The furthest I could go is the following :
George Hayward :
Christening: JUL 1822 Saint John The Baptist, Croydon, Surrey, England
Marriage: 22 MAY 1847 Saint Nicholas, Brighton, Sussex, England to Henriette Louise Bally from Switzerland.
I think his father was named Ebenezer, as well as his brother (one of them) and his nephew.
Is it relevant ?
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Cécile

Dear Cecile,

I wish I could help you but you seem to have stronger links than I do. I would be thrilled to know George's father - especially if he is an Ebenezer Hayward! In fact, I would be grateful for any info you have on the Croydon Haywards. Please contact via email - I will go through records and see what I can find that might be of interest.

Regards,

Catherine
