Thanks. T. J. Was also state senator, was a blacksmith whitesmith. He was born 1803 on the high seas from Ireland, married Penelope Sledge. They had no issue but adopted Penelope's neice. He was brother to my g-grandfather, Andrew Jackson Coghlan. He died in Sumter but have been unable to find his grave (found penelope's in Sumter). Since T. J. helped found first catholic church in Sumter, and the church was later moved to another location, suspect he is buried in cemetery of old church. He was indentured to a blacksmith named Hughes. I believe a portrait of T. J. hangs in an elementary school in Charleston but unable to locate it yet. Thanks and will send you any information I have on Rose. Their father, Francis Marion Coghlan was reputed to publish a magazine in England "Coghlan's Continental Guide" but still searching for that.
