To Kathy Inman: Your message interests me very much. On my
family tree, I have a sister to my ggfa named Josefa Bernasek. She, husband Josef and children came to Nebraska
in 1878. The History of Czechs in Nebraska by Rose Rosicky
said that they came from the village of Podebrady in Bohemia. I have not yet been able to locate it. Now I wonder if your Bernacek is the correct spelling. Since it
is the closest to my Bernasek (with a hacek over the s to
denote the sh sound). The c in Bernacek would be pronounced
ch. Bernatsky does not sound Czech--more like Polish or Russian. Your Kral forebears also interest me; A brother
of my grandfather married a Katherine Kral. Please email
me directly at Lucille
