Hugh BAIRD / BEARD received a land grant (date unknown) which he conveyed to William Baird. He appears a few other times in other land records of Lancaster County, Camden District in South Carolina. He left Lancaster in the early 1790's and was in Abbeville at least by 1797.

There was a Hugh, Simon, John and Adam Beard/Baird who signed a petition to have Reverend Alexander Porter preach at Cedar Springs Associate Reformed Church on 1 March 1797. Reverend Porter asked to be released from Cedar Springs to go to Kentucky and this was granted in August of 1814, they left in September with 34 members took wagons, and livestock and headed for Kentucky.
