Hi. Like Ted, I am descended from the Bateman Island Bateman's and very curious about the island. I would love to hear more stories if you have time. 2 questions: 1) do you ever remember seeing an old cemetery on the island? I was told that several of the Batemans were buried there. 2) Was the old plantation house still standing when you lived on the island and if so, would you have any photos of it? I'd love to see where they lived.
I grew up in Morgan City and Patterson, so I can imagine what life was like on that island. I envy you those memories. I am so saddened by what has happened to it.
