l have stumbled across a newspaper article noting that the 51st army a detachment embarked 16th inst 1838, at Gravesend on board the “Earl Grey” convict ship for NSW. Captain Ainsworth and ensigns Doveton and Skurrie are the officers to accompany him.
British Newspapers 1710 - 1950
Publication:Caledonian Mercury Edinburgh
Publication date:Saturday 21 July 1838

My husband may be related to this Skurrie,we are hoping that it may be Joseph Skurrie.
Has anyone come across any info on the officers that may have been in charge of the convicts on this ship, or may direct me to where l can find further info.
