I think Judith Coogan, my great grandmother, may have been a sister of your James Coogan because of the dates. She may have been born about 1834. Married John Patterson and had children: Mary, James, Honora, Robert, Michael and John. Honora, my grandmother, was born 1861. Judith's 1st, James, was b 1857. I was told he settled in Cork as a policeman. Would like to find his decendants for more information and possibly old family pictures. It would be good if you could find the names of your James' brothers and sisters. bettyws@hotmail.com
I just came back from Ireland. Visited St Brendan's Church in Muckalee, Co. Kil and the adjacent grave yard. There were several headstones for Coogans. Uskerty was a place I was told many Coogans were from. Don't remember exactly the places mentioned on the headstones, but I think many were Uskerty. Wish I'd heard from you before I went. I would have taken pictures of the Coogans of Uskerty headstones. Betty
