Thanks for your timely reply. I agree with you that we are evidently from different Ohrt branches. Although, we probably had a common ancester (and I don't mean "Adam"),
Possibly Ohrt was a common "German" name back in the 18th & 19th century. My research has "my" branch coming to Iowa (from Germany) in 1869. That would be my grandfather - Henry W. Ohrt, and my grandmother - Marie Hinz Ohrt).
My research also found a "Detlef Ohrt" (no known relative of mine) who arrived in Iowa (and applied for citizenship) in the 1870's.
I have also found other Ohrt's in various states, who I know are not "my" relatives. So, I know there are (probably many) more Ohrts out there. (Too bad that we, or someone else, can't compile them in just "one family tree".)
