Cheryl, I've got a bunch of evidence that would imply we're tracking different Thomas Gibney's, though the fact that they both originated in the the same county at about the same time might indicate they could be perhaps cousins. My Thomas Gibney (b. abt Oct 1841, son of Michael Gibney and Bridget Farrell) came with his parents to USA and settled in Lodi, NJ, between 1845-1849. I see Thomas listed as child (age 10) of Michael in the 1850 census in Lodi. I see Michael listed in the 1870 census in the household of a son named Thomas (age 28) in the 1870 census in Lodi. I see Thomas listed as age 37 in the 1880 census in Lodi. I see Thomas (age 74) in the 1915 NJ census in Lodi. These minor age year discrepancies are reasonable given census methods. And I see death of Thomas in January 1921 in the next town over, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. So I think these are not the same Thomas Gibney, but I'll just bet they're related somehow ! I still don't have any info at all on this Gibney line in Ireland.
