My g-g-grandparents were Catherine Gibney and James McCann, both born in 1844. As far as I know, they left West Meath in about 1863 with one son, Patrick Joseph McCann, age 3. According to the census records, there was another daughter born on board ship in NY harbor, confirming a family story. The remaining children were born in Chicago. I have copies of both ancestors' death certificates on which a daughter states that she does not know who her own grandparents in Ireland were, only that here parents were born in Ireland. James worked as a carriage driver in Chicago, Catherine not at all. I hope that these names mean something to someone. Would anyone happen to know which parish in WestMeath would be my best bet for these two families? Thanks.
