"Vonie" Veronica Bernice Dameron, was my Aunt. She is the first born daughter of Albert Walter Brigance and Cora Lucy Padgett. Albert, born in Tennessee, is a son of John F. Brigance. Who was the son of James C. Brigance/Brigham(1822) of Henry Co. Tennessee. Who is believed to be the son of James C. Brigance(1775)also of Henry Co., Tennessee. After that it is pretty much just speculation as to which of the Early Tennessee Brigance Settlers was the father of the 1775 James Brigance. Albert Brigance in his book, Brigance Genealogy, Vol. 2, says it's probably John Brigance(1750). But newer research that was unavailable then has led to speculation that it was William Brigance(1750)instead of John. The family traces back to Tennessee, then to North Carolina, and most say all the way back to Cumberland County,Pennsylvania. From there to Europe. The name is thought to originate from Bregenz(originally Brigantion, then Brigantium in Roman times)Austria(sometimes belonging to Germany).
