I have that page from the Mo geneaolgies about Nimrod Smith, being the son of John and Sarah Moseley. I just could not come to the conclusion that my Jabel and Rhoda Swafford is one of their children. I have researched that family quite extensively here in the past two months. I've found a lot of descendants, and Jabel just does not fit in that family. At least that is my opinion.

I am leaning toward someone else as Jabel's father but I need to find some more information before I say who.

I did have Jabel as the son of Jabel and Rhoda Jones. After finding Roda Jones on the 1850 census at age 55, I realized she could not be Jabel's mother. And then I reread the deed of Jabel, Sr. posted at the Clay County site.

I'm beginning to think I need to redo my whole Smith genealogy.

I have a suggestion to make. For those of us who have Jabel Smith and Rhoda Swafford in our ancestry, why don't we email each other separately from the message boards? We can compare and perhaps come up with some really good answers.

Hello Pauline,
I have the 1850,1860, 1870, 1880 census listings for Nimrod Smith in Callaway Co. MO. None of his descendants that I havae talked with have ever said he lived in Georgia. Could you please send that to me. Nimrod died 9/24/1889 in Callaway Co.
Now for a correction about the Thomases.
Thomas I and his wife are unknown and I am sure he had more sons as well as daughters besides Thomas II.
Thomas II married a Miss Davis and had a son Thomas III. He was supposed to had sons John, Charles, Moses, as well as Thomas III. As well as several daughters. Yes, this Moses is the one on the 1850 census.
Thomas III is the one who married Eunice Nancy Lewis, and who served in the revolutionary war, not Thomas II as you stated.
Just wanted to get things straightened up sono one would be mislead in the future.

William,

You are correct, my mistake, I do have that it was Thomas 111, that served in the Revolutionary War.
I did not mean to imply that Nimrod lived in Georgia, I meant to say I believe that Thomas111 was in Georgia for awhile and if my chart was right I have at least one of his kids was born there, but I will have to double check to see if my memory is right, I will get back to you.

I am not sure if my Phillip Paul Singleton is this Phillip Singleton? I'm tryin to find out info on him and his family. The info I have on Phillip Paul Singleton is that he may have been born in North Carolina. He moved from Norh Carolina in 1795 to Kentucky with his father Major Lawrence Singleton and mother Tamsey Maret and two brothers James Egbert Singleton and Daniel Mason Singleton. Phillip settled in Clay Co., KY in 1795. Daniel Mason Singleton lived in Lincoln Co., KY. James Egbert Singeton married Margaret Crawford and they lived in Rockcastle Co., KY. Any conections? Would love to exchange info if they are related. Heather

Hi,
I am very new to this and doing it just for fun and family. I was told and I can try to look it up for you that your Jabel also went by the name Abel and he was John and Sarah Moseley's son. He was also marrid to Rhoda Swafford.
I am from the line of:
Stephen Lawson Smith son of
Isaac Smith son of
Nimrod Smith son of
John Smith and Sarah Moseley

I am trying to find a American Indian link to our family. Do you have any information on Sarah Moseley's family?

Thank you,

I have nothing on Sarah Moseley.Sorry. I don't know where she came from, or anything about her family. This seems to be the case with all my ancestry. Of all the Smiths around at that time, Jabel seems to come from a different line. If you find anything please let me know. Thanks for replying.
