Hi, I wonder if all of you are my distant cousins? My mother was born in Holguin Oriente Cuba, her fathers name is Luis Jomarron. She has been estranged from him since the 40's, and has no idea about any family. Are any of your relatives familiar with the Luis Jomarron of the earlier part of the 1900's? I'm probably your cousin! It is my understanding that all of the Jomarron's from Holguin and the nearby town of Gibara, Cuba are the same family.
My name is Simone Tamayo Proenza I was born in 1961 in New York City to Cuban parents. My mother was 19 when she left Gibara in 1956. He maiden name was Gladys Jomarron Tamayo. She is now 72. Her mother's name was Rosa Jomarron she died in 1962 in New York.
My mother has had an affinity with anything French as long as I can remember. When I asked why? she would say with a smile because I come from a French Bloodline. I never really investigated or even asked her much about her claim to the French heritage. Yet as I became an adult continued to be curious. My mother named me Simone my sister's name is Juliette, my brother name Michele? French...you think??
I was fascinated to find this thread and can not wait to share it with her.
I just stared researhing my lineage and started with my mother's name first.
