Final Rites for
Funeral Services Conducted
at Little Chute
Kiraberly — Funeral services for Christian Hartjes, 95, pioneer resident of Combined Locks who died Thursday night, were held at 9 0'clock Monday morning at St. John church in Little Chute, with a solemn high Mass by the Rev. J. DeWindt, assited by the Rev. Father Jansen and the Rev. J. Sprangers. Burial was in the parish cemetery at Little Chute.
Bears were six grandsons. Gregory Hartjes, Victor Hartjes, Harry Hartjes, Henry Langedyke, Christ Wildenberg Joseph Wildenberg and Simon Van Asten.
Mr. Hartjes was born in Wanroy, Holland, in 1836. He came to this country in May 1886, settling on a farm formerly in the town of Buchanan but now in the village of
Combined Locks, where he had lived for 65 years. Up to the time of his illness Mr. Hartjes attended Holy Names church at Kimberly.
A mason by trade, Mr. Hartjes built the first church and school in Kimberly and several churches in other places. Survivors are six children, 29 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren.
