What I meant by 'missing sailings' was that I could not tell from the previous posting whether you had seen all the passenger manifests for ALL of the sailings of the Solon for 1839. I would expect there to be perhaps 4 - 6 arrivals in the US if it did nothing but sail between Europe and the US.
If your man was born in 1814, then, if this is him, he told the bank something different in 1865. This sort of error does happen (I have seen a 5 year discrepancy in my own ancestors), but this one goes with two other errors, in ship name and year of arrival.
It is not impossible that he sailed out, returned to Europe, then went back to the US a second time the following year.
So, it is a matter of judgement. Are you happy that these two people are the same ?
