Dear Norma,

Thanks for the information. This is the closest I've gotten to the St. Croix Census and the history of James W. Smith. I believe that your suggestions are on the right track. The Whim Estate files probably has a wealth of information pertaining to those who lived and worked on the property.

I understand that James W. Smith died sometime in 1952 in Canada. The story has it that he left St. Croix and went to Canada. I don't think anyone knew what part of Canada he moved to in that year. However, I suspect that he probably had relatives in the area.

Thanks for the information that you forwarded to me. It will help to use some of your suggestions. Because that period of time was during the reign of Denmark, I'd have to find those records to learn more about his history along with what I find at the Whim Estate. It's so interesting how we have to connect the families in order to discover what we deciphered all along.

I believe the Smith's you listed are related to grandfather in some way. How? That's what I need to find out.

Thanks for your help and I'm committed to finding my grandfater.
