I had a full head of hair when I began the Highland research.
As a descendant of Jared Erwin (d 1804) I have often asked if
anyone knew how he was related to Charles Erwin who wed
Dorothy Steuart and died in Coles Co., IL. Charles, b 1769,
has been said to have been born in Ireland as well as VA. The
family left Erwins and Leitches in IL. The Leitch family was known as Leach in VA, and I descend from them, too.
They rhymed Leitch with "hitch"--very prominent in Coles Co.
I have never been able to connect or even guess the family relationship of the Ervine and Erwin families. I discussed this
many years ago with Miss Leta Margaret Hiner and Rose Armstrong Hicklin, who did not have a clear understanding of
their Armstrong or Erwin roots, either.
Some Curry descendants ended up in Coles Co also. I have
thousands of Pendleton/Highland folks in my records, but I do
not have the Erwin you have queried. Sorry.
Diane Rosebraugh, by the way, is a cousin of mine and has no Highland roots. Sheer coincidence that she has landed in
Little Switzerland. I did send back some old materials with
her a year ago when she visited me. Write anytime. EPC
