I just posted this same info, under my father-in-law's account...thought I'd repost, as myself...to avoid future confusion. Sorry for the redundancy.
I go away for a day (drenched at a RELAY FOR LIFE EVENT) and then come home to a flooded yard and basement...and look at all the activity!!
This is what I have on Alpheus and Laura
Some of this is documented by the family bible...and some info has been filled in by folks from boards...not documented, but good guesses.
Barbara Williams' husband and I are from the same line up through the Williams'.
Alpheus Williams born: March 1, 1796 Lanesboro, MA
Died June 11, 1873 Charlotte, VT
married Laura Powell November 11, 1817
(born February 9, 1799 in MA died August 24, 1863 location unknown)
Children of Laura and Alpheus:
1) Jeremiah A. Williams ( b Nov. 1, 1827 Poultney VT, d Oct. 4, 1902 Burlington, VT)
married May 15, 1850
Margaret Adele Gold (b Dec. 10, 1828 Scotland, d Dec. 22, 1891 Burlington, VT)
This is my (and Barbara's hubbys) ancestor.
2) Caroline Williams (b Dec 4, 1834)
3) Louise Rebecca Williams (b March 7, 1833)
4) Bingham Williams (b April 17, 1822)
5) Myron Williams (b 1836)
6 Lois R. Williams (Born 1825...found a grave in Lanesboro Center Cemetery with a grave for her that stated died October 15, 1828)
Okay...so....that's what I have...on their children...
Jeremiah and Margaret Adele Gold Williams had:
John Curtis Williams (b. May 17, 1861 in Willsboro New York...d May 24, 1941 buried Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven, CT)
married first: Clara E. Phelps on January 9, 1884 (born about 1860 Burlington Vermont)
Jere Williams born July 27, 1885
Curtis P. Williams born 1887
married second : Nellie Elizabeth Worden on April 22, 1891 in Denver Colorado (born January 1, 1864 in New Haven, CT died September 20, 1950 buried Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven, CT)
Alice D. Williams born February 2, 1892
Albert Worden Williams born Dec. 31, 1893
Margaret Elizabeth Williams born July 4, 1895
I have more information on marriages and children of John C. Williams children from both marriages...as does Barbara.
I recently visited Lanesboro, and was able to find some of Laura's ancestors on the Powell line's graves. That was very exciting (happy to share if anyone descends from the Powells, too). I have been at a dead end for a couple of years with the Williams though. So many unanswered questions. For instance: did John C. Williams first wife, Clara, die? Why did he remarry a girl from New Haven CT, in Colorado...then move back to New Haven.
Further back....where the heck did our Alpheus come from? I've been in touch with different libraries over the years, received some leads, only to have them fall apart upon further investigation. I wont bore you with bad information.
Lanesboro, MA is very close to Williamstown, MA, I found out when I was up there. I have strong suspicions that there might be some connection to the Williams of Roxbury MA, or Williams college, but nothing to go on, as yet.
Please share whatever you have, as any link is a clue.
