My husband and son are descendants of those listed in the Harrison Randolph Bible. We, in fact, have a photo copy of the Bible register which you have listed. It is hard to decipher the writing and we are pleased to see your version of the listings. Do you have information on Beverly Randolph born, September 5th, 1837. Who he married, listing children, and place of birth in Rutherford County, Tennessee.. My husband's grandfather was John Beverly Randolph (died mid-1960's) married to Alice, had three children, sons John Beverly Randolph & Henry Sperry Randolph, and daughter, Sarah. Do you have any information about the Beverly Randolph taken prisoner during the Civil War to prison camp in Ohio? Also, might we ask how you acquired your copy of the Harrison Randolph Bible register? Just curious. Thanks.

I think he was the brother of my great-great grandfather, William Walter Randolph 9th Tn Infantry. I recall reading that your Randolph was captured at Ft. Heiman or Ft. Donelson early in the war. I never learned of his fate. W.W.Randolph is buried at the Confederate Cemetary in Hermitage TN. He died in 1910. My number is 731-723-4719.

Even years later - Thank You for this posting. As Billie Harris asked years ago on the Randolph Board, how can the same marriage be in two different bibles? The Harrison Bible was all about Rutherford Co TN, but here are the entries for the John of Greif family (Henry the Immigrant) bible in Wilson County TN:

"As some of you have probably read, there?s been discussion of the contents found in two Bibles, one of Harrison Randolph of Rutherford County, Tennessee, and one of John Randolph of Wilson County, Tennessee. Harrison was the son of Edward Randolph and Edward was the son of William and Mary Isham Randolph of Turkey Island. To restate the contents of the John Randolph of Wilson County, Bible:

"Marriage:
John Randolph & Mary Whittington were married March 6, 1794
Peyton Randolph & Amander G. Keeble were married Sept. 18, 1822
Grief Randolph and Nancy Anderson were married October 31, 1829
John Green Randolph and Nancy Gayle Wynne were married Feby 14, 1834
Births:
Grief Randolph was born January 11, 1795
Peyton Randolph was born July 6, 1797
John Green Randolph was born November 11, 1799"

etc.

*re: Black/Mulatto Randolphs of VA and TN* Yvette, I'm entering this thread years later, but it looks like we may share a history. I hit my Randolph brick wall at Tony (b. ~1800) and Jennie (b.1795). If you, or anyone else want to make contact, just reply to this thread - I'm having alerts sent to my email for any responses.

Yes. As a child, my mother got names and locations from her great grandmother Nan Randolph. Nan Randolph died in the 1960s and nothing was done with the info for decades. Sometime in the 90s the Randolph, Chapman and Batten/Battin branches of the family got together to compile photos and stories.

As far as we know Tony and Jenny had a slew of kids, but we only have names of their last three: Henry, Jo, Jacob. Henry later married Vinny who brought with her 3 kids from her first marriage to someone named Weakly (Dan, Betsy, Henry).

These folks would eventually split, with some landing in Southeast Virginia.

Here's where we're stuck:
-The names of Tony and Jenny's oldest kids (who had grown and left by the time the youngest were born)
-The first name of Vinny's first husband, Mr. ___ Weakly
-Info on Jacob Randolph's wife Lizze.

My line lived in Rutherford Co. TN. Was living with Beverly Randolph. My GGGreat grandfather was James and his wife was Jenny. Vinny, Henry, Anderson, Rachel, Matilda, Usher were just a few of the names of their children. My ggrandfather's name was Anderson, he married Isabelle Malone...and had Allen, James and Thomas. I believe James was from Virginia, and Jenny was from South Carolina? I think she was a Searcy, not sure of her maiden name except, the Searcy had a child named Anderson, and she named my gggreat grandfather, Anderson...I have not found evidence of this yet... but I am still searching...they lived on the Randolph plantation in Walter Hill TN known as Riverside...

Horace is no longer with us, but the Lucy in question was the Lucy Randolph daughter of Elizabeth Starke and Harrison Randolph Sr. born Oct. 10,1783.

Horace had originally written she married Morton Thornton Jett in Jan. 1897. That was a typo. They married 20 JAN 1807.

Bill, Horace mentioned in an earlier post that he had info on my line Lucy Harrison Randolph m. Thornton Jett. I set aside genealogy for several years following a sudden death in my own immediate family, but I would like to pursue this line if you have the info or know how I could tap into it.
