I am working to get hold of the court case Goodlett v Waddell from the Greenville Library. I don't know the year of the case, but I do know that the plaintiff was James Goodlett and the defendant Isaac Waddell.

An Isaac Waddell (b. 1780 d. 18__) came from Virginia to Greenville and settled by the Tyger River. His wife was Nancy Middleton. Among his children were Martha Mahala, who married William Hubbard, and a daughter who married a Goodlett.

Martha's known children were Robert Hayne, Georgia Anna, Mary Frances, Henrietta Elizabeth, Arthur Paul, and Lillie Augusta. She also had a daughter named Isabelle and a child named Seffie, who are usually assumed to be the same person, but not necessarily. Seffie could be short for Josephine, Sophia, Septima, etc. There might have also been a son named William who, by Frances Neal, had Lenora Connors Hubbard (according to her death record). The Census records are in conflict with Lenora's death record, as they list her as a daughter of Robert Hayne Hubbard and Jane McFall.

I have no facts pertaining to Mrs. Goodlett, but found circumstantial evidence that her name was Catherine. "Catherin Goodlett of Greenville" appears next to Mahala Hubbard in an 1830 Old Stone Church membership list. But this Catherine Goodlett might not have been related to the Waddells at all.

The odd thing is I have found absolutely no historical record of Isaac Waddell's existence in Greenville, except, perhaps, the court case.
