Thank you for replying. No- My 2greatgrandparents did not emigrate to Canada, but some of their children may have - this would be after 1853 Clearance anyway.

Angus was a shepherd, probably within the Glengarry estate??
I have spent a great deal of time on SCOTSLAND PEOPle website but have been unable to find ( or confirm) any of the children's marriages! - I have Donald's birth and Marriage cert. - he married Elizabeth MACFARLAN in Buchanan 1862 and then they emigrated to Dunedin, NZ.
Have tried to find a death of ANgus ( this could have been before 1855 or he may have been a Roman Catholic??) nor death of Catherine his wife ( do not have a marriage for them either??)
in the 1841 census of Knoydart I found Catherine MCRAE with Margaret, Nelly, Christy, Catherane, & Donald 18 months all MCDONALDS living in GLEN CAOLASMOR with Catherine MCRAE'S stepfather Roderick MCCUAIG, Mother CATHERANE MCCUAIG and perhaps half brothers of Catherine MCRAE, Donald
and Malcolm and half sister Ann MCCUAIG. Angus was not present - also Catherane used her maiden name
The 1851 census they are in Sourlies but after that they disappear???
Some of the children's births are on the IGI,but Nelly, Ann, Catherine, and the 2nd Ann I found in the census records.
When you do get the Marriage records I would be grateful if you could see if there is a mention of this family. I hope one day to visit Knoydart - the home of my ancestors - can't wait to find my roots. Look forward to hearing from you again - my email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
Cheers for New Zealand
