It is called "History of the Settlement of Wallenpaupack" and written in the late 1800's wriiten by Ephriam Killam.
There are 10 pages devoted to the Pellet family, is there anyone in particular?

Nope, I could use the lot. I'm working on putting together all of the Pellets in America for eventual publication, and this family has been a little elusive.

If you could email me, we'll work out some way to get copies. Thanks

I'm looking for a Fanny McGown who first married Richard Pellet b. Aug. 1, 1789 in Paupack. They were married Jan. 2, 1825 in Paupack, PA. She married 2nd on Oct 23, 1833 in PA to James P. Steward who I suspect might have been born in this same county on Sept 12, 1792. I would love to know if there is any information about them in your book. Especially who their parents were and so on. Michelle

Would you please check the book for the marriage of Levi Westbrook and Catharine (maiden name unknown). They married ca 1775 or before possibly in Pike Co., PA. I've never been able to find their marriage record in PA, Sussex Co., NJ or Orange Co., NY.

Thank you for the lookup!!!

Excellent book on early NE PA is "Canadensis" written by a tremendous scholar who lives in Paupack. Covers and explains Wallenpaupack and Pleasant Mount, two of the earlies settlements in Wayne and Pike. The most impressive detail and research ever seen on the topic.

Dear Nick,

Well, I am intrigued by the name since the main family I research is the Walling / Wallen / Wallin family.

Does the name perhaps come from this family? BTW, What is the name of the book? And most of all, is there any information in the book the Walling / Wallen / Wallin family.

Finally, thanks so much for offering to do these lookups.

Nick, I'm looking for Cosgrove's in the Paupack area. Actually, parents of Nora Cecelia Cosgrove, born February 28, 1880 in Paupack, Pike Co., PA. Is there anything on the Michael Cosgrove and Lucy Edwards Cosgrove family? The Edwards family was part of the Paupack settlement, I believe. Anything on the Edwards, Cosgrove families would be very much appreciated. You could contact me at mthermonRW@comcast.net.

Thanks so much,
Rachel Williams

Jasper Edwards was one of the original settlers to Wallenpaupack in 1774. The settlers were forced away due to hostilities surrounding the Rev. War and when they did return around 1783 Jasper apparently settled on one of the lots but by the time the deeds were recorded around 1806, he had moved to the Hawley area, on the Lackawaxen River. I have read that his sons Peleg and James and daughter Sabra remained at the settlement but I have found no evidence of this. I suspect they moved with their father to the Hawley area. Sabra married Jonathan Brink. Peleg had sons Charles and Henry. Henry was a shoemaker and married Caroline Kimble, sister of my GGgrandfather, Andrew Jackson Kimble. The only Edwards buried at the old Paupack cemetery are Henry and his wife Caroline and their son Arthur.

I have not done a tree on this family so I most certainly am missing family members.

Jasper was captured by the Indians at some point. A good source of info is Mathew 's "History of Pike, Wayne and Monroe Counties'" pub. 1886.

Thanks, Nan! I'll put that information into my Edwards line. I have some old books but not the one you mentioned by Matthews. Thanks for the info!

Have a wonderful New Year!
