I have to chime in, MartheLawton (and DPotts), it isn't just the private tree owner's loss, it is EVERY ONE's loss.
My husband's DNA test results are coming up nil, again and again. He has a preponderance of matches to folks who have private trees OR NO tree or very small trees. I haven't found a single match yet for him. Very frustrating.
I do totally hope that those who seem attached to their private trees, that they would at least consider a bare bones tree to post with the DNA test linked. It might help me, eventually, to narrow down to where my husband's tree might link with someone elses (or if my husband's tree has errors amongst his early grandparents for whatever reason (infidelity, adoption-infamily or otherwise, secrets heretofore unknown?)
