I don't know much about the Seery family history, since my father, Richard J. Seery, never talked about his side of the family much, but I am Barbara Seery, the youngest of 4 and my Brother Richard Frances Seery is the oldest so he was able to tell me more than I knew. My father, was born in 1937 in Wilmington, DE. He has a younger sister Marie and an older brother John (Jack). Their mother was Elizabeth Hoffman, born in 1911 or 1913 and Richard (Dick)George Seery DOB near the same. I'm told that my grandfather had 2 brothers Thomas and and unknown one by name. My great-grandfather was Patrick Seery who came from Ireland and settled in PA or DE. There seems to be alot of mystery and untold stories or so it seems to me and my brother. I believe my grandparents divorced sometime in the 1940's and the Seery family hated my grandmother for it so my Dad and his siblings didn't have any kind of relationship with their father. I know Dick owned a Mom and Pop store in DE in his early years and left his estate to the Humane Society when he passed. I am very interest in meeting my relatives and find out more of my family history. We live in Wilmington, DE and today there was an obituary in the paper for a John Seery Jr. from Milford, DE which is why my brother and I started talking of all this today. We are oddly enough thinking of going to the funeral of this unknown person to us in hopes of finding out how we are all related. Something unbelieveable though I want to share, I had read someone's reply while searching tonight for Seery's that a couple long ago had 2 sons and named them both John. Well, my father legally just had to have his name changed because he was trying to get a passport and his drivers license and birth certificate didn't match. He never knew that the legal name he was born with was John Richard, the same as his brother. He always thought his name was Richard John. Does anyone know my family. I also have 2 sisters; Geraldine and Donna.
