Classification: Query
Surnames: Cameron
James Cameron enlisted in the 26th of foots Cameronian Regiment 27 September 1777 at Philadelphia. He was at Decker's Ferry until 1779 when he was sent to Britain with all men except privates to recruit up tp proper establishment.
In 1780 the regiment mustered at Tamworth and again on 1st,9,1781.On 7/3/1781 they were at Tyneworth Barracks.and again on 24/8/1782. On 7/7/1783 it was at Musselburgh on duty. James was absent from this Muster Parade, being shown as"on command'(ie about on duty). On 7/91783 Corporal James Cameron was transferred to the Colonel's Company.

The regiment moved to Belfast where it mustered on 3/11/1783 and 3/11/1783 . He was reduced in rank on an
unspecified date and reason. The Regiment was accommodated in Ireland until 24/5/ 1787 and shortly embarked for service in Canada. They mustered at Quebec on 19/1/1788
and at St. John's on 2/2/1789. He egained his Sergeant's rank and died in 1800 at Quebec. He left his wife, Mary, daughter Ann and though not mentioned, his son, Charles b 16 May 1783,who enlisted as a drummer in 1790 at Montreal. He served until one month later when he, his sister and mother travelled to York. A few years later he got land in Toronto Township, Home District and raised a family of 10.
My question pertains to James residence before enlisting. Was it Pennsylvania or Quebec where the 26th had served prviously ?
Thank you for any background n this.
