I did at one time have all the papers in my hand. My story, that John Hancock was an uncle. From what my Grandmother pieced together was that sometime after the Hayes Station, they pioneered to Calif. My namesake was the one of the original pioneer babies born on the wagon trail. The landed and become gold miners in Cherokee Ca. where many were buried. I live in NC now, and have had the pleasure of not only finding and cleaning the memorial but we found the battle sight, it was an amazing feeling. Hoping to find it again this summer, been since the late 90s.. My Grandmother shared deeply our History with me,and my mother had all the genealogy papers, I'm trying to find them again.
