Joseph Lafayette Irby was killed along with two of his sons, Joseph Jr. and Greaf, at the Hayes Station Massacre during the Revolutionary War. Another son, William, was spared death because he had gone to the creek for water when the attack took place. These Whigs were attacked by Bloody Bill Cunningham and his group. Where can I find more information on this battle?
