Go to http://services.dar.org/public/dar_research/search/ and see if there have been any previus applications under your patriot ancestor's name. It is possible William R. Gerney Hoskin could be a CA (common ancestor), which you could then piggyback off of.
Basically, you would have to prove your lineage to the CA. Hope this helps. Best of luck in your journey, in discovering your family's patriot roots.
